Multimedia I – Juniors

Course Description – Multimedia 1 & 2

The primary objective of the Communications Through Multimedia class is to provide an educational opportunity for students to expand their communication and technology skills in an attempt to better prepare them for productive and fulfilling lives within our ever-changing society.

This class is designed to be a “School to Work” program where students are graded for everyday work ethic, which includes coming to class on time, time management, teamwork skills and work production as well as finished projects. Grades per day are treated as a “paycheck”.

Prerequisites –

Applied Technology and/or Web Design and Management is a prerequisite for MM 1

MM 1 is prerequisite for MM 2

Course Outcomes-

 MM1- Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  1. Final Cut Pro 6 (Professional Editing in Final Cut Studio 2) ( 9 Weeks)
  2. Soundtrack Pro 2 (Sound for Picture in Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio) (8 Weeks)
  3. Motion 3 (Designing and Animating Motion Graphics in Final Cut Studio 2) (8 Weeks)
  4. DVD Studio Pro 4 (Authoring Professional DVDs in Final Cut Studio 2) (9 Weeks)
  5. Compressor 3 (Digital Distribution in Final Cut Studio) (2 weeks)

Knowledge will be assesses through a final video production consisting of a commercial of a local business and/or a music video. Both mush be pre-approved by Instructor… which in this case is Mrs. Geroux

MM2 – Students will use all the above skills and demonstrate knowledge in the applications when creating & editing individual videos for all seniors who will be graduating.

 

Upon completion of the course, you should have achieved the following:

This is an Apple Pro Training Series

Those that complete this course may choose to become Apple Certified with a Level 1

Course Policies

Attendance/Tardiness

  1. Being tardy results in a loss of points for the period

  2. Unexcused absences result in a zero for the period and could lead to class dismissal if excessive

  3. Excessive excused absences could lead to class removal

Class participation-  

-Everyone is expected to participate fully in class

Exam/Assignment make-up policy-

-Make-up must be done on students own time. (Before or after school)

Academic honesty

Address cheating-

-Cheating results in a zero for the project

Address plagiarism-

-Plagiarism results in a zero for the project

Life Skills-

-Students are expected to perform to the high standards that will be expected of them at any job in the real work place outside of school.

Grading:

 

Grading Scale

A – 90% – 100%- Amazing Work – You put a lot of effort and creativity – you finish in a timely manner – you are accurate with composition when applicable – you consistently stay with the conservative constraints expected in a classroom setting – you produce usable, and unique projects.

B – 80% – 89%- Above Average work – you put some extra time in on the project- you indicate that you have pride in your work!

C – 70% – 79%- Average work – You have to be reminded to stay on task more than once a week

D – 60% – 69%- You miss class or are late. You don’t seem to really care to impress anyone with your work – you must be reminded to stay on task more than twice a week – Disrupt other students during class time

F – 59% and below – You miss a lot of class time. Must be reminded more than twice a week to stay on task – Continuously disrupt others in class – have trouble taking responsibility
